About the Opportunity
The Business Development Manager, Community Businesses is responsible for fostering relationships and developing and managing new and existing commercial business opportunities, with a goal of increasing employment opportunities and revenue across Flourish Australia’s community businesses. They will also provide leadership and management for all community businesses commercial contracts, and also has responsibility for prospecting and creating new business opportunities within the community businesses.
On a day-to-day basis, your duties will include (but are not limited to):
- Provide high quality commercial customer service, through developing and maintaining key relationships with current and prospective commercial clients, and with other key stakeholders
- Build relationships with government, private and not for profit sectors, based on a strong grasp of procurement planning in government agencies and other business entities.
- Work closely with Regional Manager, Community Businesses to source and respond to tenders.
- Preparing and submitting quotes and tenders on medium to large opportunities, pursuing social procurement opportunities with government.
- Taking the lead on tender submissions and work contracts over $50,000.
- Ensure appropriate work contracts are procured with seamless allocation to appropriate sites for completion.
- Liaising with the local Regional Manager and undertaking a risk assessment to ensure local businesses have capacity and meet the requirements for the proposed contract.
- Development and maintenance of a prospective contract framework, ensuring all contracts align with Flourish Australia’s organisational goals and objectives.
- Ensure community business sites are adequately prepared to deliver quality results against procured work.
- Sales planning initiatives including development and implementation.
- Ensure commercial contracts, Commonwealth funding contract(s) and NDIS guidelines are adhered to.
- Ensure the appropriate industrial framework is applied throughout the community businesses.
- Establish strong, positive communication with Commonwealth funding and relationship manager(s) to ensure good relationships are maintained and grown.
- Ensuring services are of a high standard and comply with standards of quality practice.

Selection Criteria
Essential:
- A diploma or degree in Business Management or related discipline.
- A minimum of 3 years experience in a business development or contracts and relationship management related role.
- Demonstrated engagement, collaboration and negotiation skills, with the capability to build and maintain positive working relationships with industry and government executives and managers.
- Familiarity with government procurement processes.
- Advanced knowledge and demonstrated experience working within contractual guidelines.
- Demonstrated experience of negotiating and managing commercial contracts.
- Demonstrable record of achieving sales revenue and profit targets.
- Demonstrated experience administering complex policy and commercial business matters, including commercial tendering and procurement.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office and expert knowledge of data information management systems.
- Current Australian Driver’s Licence.
